1. What was the current need/gap that you were addressing?
how to guide students to explore topics related to Chinese society and its social evolution by incorporating literary works and simultaneously cultivating core value of harmony, social awareness and critical thinking.
2. How had it been experimented and enacted?
Discussion within group had been conducted to ensure 1) whether to use ancient literary works or contemporary works 2) students' activities and slides of previous literature teaching were shared for reference. Two sessions (1.5hr per session) were conducted and students were guide to understand the literature works as well have discussion of further understanding and analysis related to the social changes and related topics, such as the imperial examination system and issues of talent selection and social mobility, as well as the problem of social stratification. Feedback was given by teacher of class observation and questions for discussion were adjusted to guide students to focus on social changes and common topics that go beyond the Chinese context.

4. What was the positive impact?
Students are able to to broaden their thinking and, through the perceptual perspective offered by literature, enable them to gain a more direct and deeper understanding of ancient Chinese thought and social changes. Through literary analysis, they can explore the social phenomena hidden beneath the texts and form their own viewpoints through discussion.
5. What is a future need that this IdEas@work could meet?
The programme can further develop by integrating broader interdisciplinary perspectives, incorporating historical analysis, sociological theory, and contemporary cultural studies. These directions will better equip students with critical thinking skills and a deeper understanding of how literature reflects and shapes societal change while developing their civic, gloabal and cross-cultural literacy.
