Online Open Classroom

What was the current need/gap that you were addressing?

The existing school open classrooms are based on face-to-face teaching. Apart from the advantages, we can identify several drawbacks to this approach: 1. There is a limit to the number of teachers who can attend the class due to limited classroom space; 2. Class scheduling conflicts with teachers' timetables, preventing willing teachers from attending; 3. It's not possible to review the classroom teaching process, and feedback and communication can only rely on memory.

How had it been experimented and enacted?

I'm attempting to open up the classroom by recording and sharing instructional videos, aiming for a more effective way of sharing. 1. Explanation of sharing classroom content 2. Recording: (1) Tools: Phone, tripod (2) Objective: Primarily to showcase teaching content and process, understanding the teacher's teaching approach (3) Footage: Focused on the whiteboard and teacher, excluding students 3. Sharing recorded classroom instructional videos 4. Issuing an online feedback form to gather opinions from teachers who watched the instructional videos, facilitating online communication.

Which group(s) had benefited?

All Teaching Staff

What was the positive impact?

1. It helps to solve the conflict between open classroom times and teachers' schedules. Teachers can watch class videos at any time without limitations of time and space. 2. The openness of the open classroom can be expanded, allowing for increased participation from more attending teachers. 3. Classroom teaching videos can be replayed and analyzed at any time, facilitating lesson evaluations and discussion. 4. Classroom teaching videos can be preserved as long-term resources, available for reference and application as needed. 5. Online feedback forms enable continuous lesson evaluation and communication (finding a time when all evaluators are available for face-to-face evaluation is challenging). 6. Encourages more individuals to participate in the educational discussions within the open classroom. 7. There are no significant technical requirements.

What is a future need that this IdEas@work could meet?

1. Schools need to support and promote this online open classroom initiative. 2. We hope that teachers can set aside concerns and truly embrace the concept that the open classroom is not for personal evaluation but purely for educational discussions.
