Initiated on (date)
July/August

Completion date
1 October 2014
Objectives/Targets
There are 2 main objectives that the committee hopes to achieve:

1.     To re-design the NYGH graduation ceremony programme to achieve a clearer intent, which is to encourage the students to reflect on the memories and experience in NYGH, beyond receiving of the scrolls.  The ceremony should also be more meaningful to the people attending, mainly their parents and guardians.
2.     To explore more meaningful keepsake for the Sec 4 girls to remember the memories of NYGH.

Implementation Process

The following are some of the implementation process:
·        A week before the graduation ceremony, the Grad comm shared with the cohort the intent of the ceremony and encouraged all the secondary four students to write a sincere, heartfelt letter to their parents/guardians. They were encouraged to convey their gratitude for all the support and love their parents had shown them. Student representatives are guided to present a speech that could help to create the special moment to convey the heartfelt messages during the ‘Tribute’ segment. Sec 4 BOMs also assisted in collating baby photos.
·        CCA awards are given during the CCA Prize Giving held on the last day of school. This ceremony includes a speech by the head of Sec 4 BEL. The WBH and top CCA awards are to be given out during next year’s APG.
·        A thumbdrive (a gift from school to Sec 4s) is designed to be an NYGH mascot in a graduation gown. Apart from the video of the graduation ceremony, the thumbdrive will also include the e-book containing photos and notes from teachers as well as the Graduation booklet, which include names of all Graduands. The Sec 4 BOMs are involved in deciding and collating the materials to be included in the thumbdrive, with school’s in-house designer assisting.
·        The BOM is involved in planning of the Bye Bye Pal Ceremony and this includes gathering feedback from the juniors about their gift for the Sec 4s and ordering of the bears.

Extent of Improvement/
Targets met

The following improvements were made:

1.     To include the tribute to parents segment so that it would serve as a meaningful closure for the secondary four students' education in NYGH.
2.     To give out the CCA awards at an alternative platform, CCA Prize Giving instead of during the Sec 4 Grad Ceremony so as to have a shorter ceremony that fits the objectives better.
3.     To have a more meaningful keepsake for the Sec 4 girls in the form of thumbdrive with memories of graduation ceremony.
4.    To provide opportunities for junior BOMs to show their appreciation to the seniors and be involved more meaningfully through planning of the Bye Bye Pal Ceremony celebration and overseeing the gift from Sec 1 – 3 students.

This is an improvement to our previous gift of a CD with graduation ceremony video only. The above will add a more affective value to the gift.
