To highlight why they are wrong and how they should be done
-
To compile these into a big mind map in brochure form to be given to
every NY girl and share with cluster schools W6 as well.
-
To source for sponsorship for printing of the brochures
-
To include these compilations in lesson notes in 2018 & beyond
|
Implementation Process
|
Feb – May:
Collect
authentic data on students’ mistakes and misconceptions as reflected in their
daily work, quizzes, tests and MYE. Each team member is assigned to collect
data from one level. (S1-S4)
Jun:
Do error
analysis for all errors collected and categorise them by topic. Key in error
analyses in a table form in Word Doc to include the question, what the
student did, what went wrong and why, and how it should be done and why.
July:
Check all the
entries in Word Doc for accuracy and contact Shinglee for sponsoring the
printing of the mind maps in brochure form.
August:
Work with
Shinglee on design of mind map and confirm the layout and check the sample
produced online before actual printing is done.
End-August:
2000 copies of
the final product ‘100 M&Ms’ are sent to NYGH and each NYGH is given
a copy as a gift from the Math Dept in
conjunction with the school’s 100th anniversary celebrations.
Sep:
Mind map is
shared with W6 cluster schools.
Oct- Nov:
Refining soft
copy on Word Doc to prepare to share with W6 Cluster schools and to
‘decentralise’ the 100 M&Ms into the respective lesson notes (by topic)
for 2018 so that each set of lesson notes will feature some common mistakes
and misconceptions for that topic.

Extent of Improvement/
Targets met
|
We managed to
get sponsorship from Shinglee Publishers to print for us the brochures/mind
maps (2000 copies) in color, with free editorial services, and they also
helped us with the design of the layout FOC. This could save us at least
$5000.
The completed
and printed mind maps were delivered to our school before the EOYs just in
time for the students to use for revision. They were distributed to all NYGH
girls (Sec 1-4) through their subject teachers and some copies were also
shared with the W6 cluster schools Math HODs, including HCI and SOTA.
The cluster
schools were very impressed by the product and it usefulness and have since
requested for soft copy of the error analyses (in original tabulation Word doc
format) to be shared with them. Mrs Phua-Tan GH will follow up on this.
Pls see attached
pics of the brochure/mind map. A hard copy is attached too.
