Renaming Ex-Dean's Room

Image
Contributed by TAN GEK HOON, CHEW MUI FONG Current Situation: The office next to Math Dept is named as Dean's Room, as it was originally the office for Deans. Improvement: Would we want to consider renaming this room to Math Meeting Room? We are open to other names as well. As the school currently has no deans, it can be confusing for new colleagues to recognise the room from the name. Just a suggestion to keep the names of our rooms more updated.

Sharing of students' results analysis

Image
Contributed by SAM CHOON JUEN, ANG JOO LIAK, TAN LU HOON @ IRENE TAN Current Situation: The sec 1 to 4 students' overall results analysis done by the Data Systems Unit were shared to the Exco by Head/ ICT & Ed Tech, via email on 8 November 2021. Improvement: To better inform Exco of the performance of students' results and subjects' results, for early intervention strategies by the acad heads and YH teams, we (also including Wan Cheng and Soo Eng) would like to suggest the following: 1. Head/ICT & Ed Tech to physically present the analysis during the next available Exco meeting, after the analysis is done. 2. The Data Systems Unit to also carry out results analysis for the Sec 4, after their mid-year exam. And Head/ICT & Ed Tech to physically present the analysis during the next available Exco meeting, after the analysis is done.

Intranet page for students

Image
Contributed by ONG LAY HONG Current Situation: Students/Parents have no access to any admin/finance forms (early dismissal, Leave of Absence, Edusave, etc). Always need students to retrieve the forms thru GO or via FT. Improvement: Have the forms available in NY Portal. Parents can download the forms and submit online (where the necessary dept and FT will get notification of the submission). This will also reduce the administrative work for teaching staff.

Added feature in NY Portal for parents' access

Image
Contributed by ONG LAY HONG Current Situation: Students need to go GO to scan Change of Address QR-code to submit new official address. Improvement: Put the QR-code in NY Portal as most likely it will be the parents, instead of the student, who will have the document to update the new official address.

Gamification of Themes in Literature

Image
Contributed by YAO LING YUN, TENG CHIN YANG SANDRA Current Situation: Teachers teach themes to students. Improvement: Adding the element of fun and interaction to enhance the joy of learning. Sandra came up with a list of 40 words related to the key ideas of the novel. Lingyun converted them into cards which can then be played in small groups such that the students make connections between these 40 ideas, extending their learning.

Image
Contributed by YAO LING YUN, SAW PEI LIN, SABRINA BTE EMIL Current Situation:  Gratitude and appreciation cards are designed by Peilin, then printed for staff's use. Improvement: The cards are converted to an easy to use google slides format. Users are given an additional choice. They can send them out at their convenience.

Crystal competition display corner

Image
Contributed by NG REI PING, SITI SUYATI BINTE SAMRI Current Situation: We have a lot of crystals that are made by the girls in the past for crystal competitions organized by NUS. All of the crystals are hidden in a box. Improvement: Both Siti and I designed a backdrop with the design concept of growing crystal and we send the designs to print. We 3D print a few items as part of décor and glue them with the crystal. In the future, once the competition resume, we will 3D print stands and place the awards on the board next to the posters.

Handmade plastic long-delivery tube (N-shaped)

Image
Contributed by NG REI PING, SITI SUYATI BINTE SAMRI Current Situation: We have glass N-shaped which the students breaks quite frequently and cut themselves. Improvement: Now, we change it into plastic so no amount of twisting and turning will cause injury. It was manually made by both Siti and me. We cut out small tubing and melt it to bend it and make 30 of them.

Streamlining of Microsite Information with UI in Mind

Image
Contributed by LIN JIASUI, LEE XIAO-EN TABITHA, ROZELLS MARK GREGORY Current Situation: While the use of the different microsites helps to categorise the different links and forms, these links and forms are not intuitively found by users because it requires staff to think about WHO is in charge rather than WHAT is involved. (e.g. Student Incident Report is found under Infrastructure when intuitively it is a student matter; Temperature Taking is found under ICT when intuitively it is an admin matter). Improvement: If the microsites are meant to help staff, it might make more sense to categorise the required forms and links based on why/when they are used rather than who looks at the information. This will reduce confusion and staff having to randomly click on different microsites to find what they need, or end up just starring the link directly / saving the file, which defeats the purpose of having a microsite in the first place.
