To review and
tie together the various rates, payments and refunds for greater clarity and
operational effectiveness
|
Implementation Process
|
1) Discussion
with Accounts staff and BSch officer i/c of stay matters - on concerns and
challenges with Bsch collections, refunds rate computation.
2) Bsch staff
scanned the external environment:
- checked on
market competitors eg HCI, private hostels
- obtained
inputs from potential clients from eg NUS, agencies for educational groups
- worked with
housing agents and did checks on rental prices etc
- obtained feedback
from potential and existing residents/tenants
3) Bsch Staff brainstormed
on rates – competitiveness, viability, needs of potential guest and residents
etc with info obtained in (2).
4) Rates and
existing payments and refunds practices were consolidated into a document
4) With input
from bursar, fine-tuning of rates and terms/conditions for the various
categories of stay was done – through several rounds.
5) With accounts
staff input, operational considerations were included – eg collection cycle,
penalties for late payment etc.
6) BSch staff ‘tested’ the summary document –
for clarity, coverage of the various types of stays and ease of use.
6) Further refinements were made and the
document was finalized for use in 2015
7) Follow-up - adjustments to all related
documents eg acceptance letter and contracts to be made.

Targets met
|
A more concise
and market-attuned document and a one-stop information ‘kit’ to address

uniquely fun outing and dinner for Support Staff.
|
Implementation Process
|
Discussed with
staff of various departments to know what they would look forward to for this
outing. Decided on something with a wide appeal – songs and singing J and a good buffet spread.
The karaoke function
space is seldom available to small groups, so this a fairly rare opportunity
for us to experience this space.
Negotiated the
venue to fit our budget. Efforts were taken to ensure all logistics were
taken care of for everyone to have a fun and space to have games and dancing
and interaction.
|
Extent of Improvement/
Targets met
|
Discovered new singing
talents in staff and management! J We hope it was a unique experience and
bonding memory for everyone who participated.

Objectives/Targets
|
Mooted the idea that
we should continue to enhance relationship with hostels that we work most
closely with by inviting them to perform and enjoy the concert together.
|
Implementation Process
|
We realize that
there is less time for other hostels to perform as we are giving priority for
boarders to showcase their talents. Selected Hostels were invited to submit
video performances which can actualize in a live performance or a short video
clip that will be screened at the Talent Night. All guests were invited for
supper snacks after the concert, which created added time for interaction.
|
Extent of Improvement/
Targets met
|
Invited hostels
informed us that their boarders were very excited to be invited. Our boarders
and BSE audience benefitted from a varied audience and performers. It was a
great atmosphere to have the buzz of other hostels joining us.

During the Talent Night 2014
‘Abracadabra’, the students put up a brilliant show, starting off with a
mysterious magic show which really captivated us. The beautiful and exciting
stage lights brought out the best in all the performances from singing, dancing
and melodic instrument playing. The atmosphere was
electric! The
curtain closed on a really enjoyable evening which left everyone in a joyful
mood.
——陈鹭 303
Talent Night 2014 has enriched me with a
wealth of new experience. As a member of the organising committee, I was
honoured to work with the backstage crew and the tutors, who were enthusiastic
and experienced. For me, it was a pleasure to see the performers
improving day by day and delivering a splendid final show on stage. It goes to
prove that we all have our talents and should not be afraid to try new things.
Like Judy Garland once sang, “The dreams that you dare to dream really do come
true”.

Completion date

|
Objectives/Targets
|
To create an
independent and newly designed website to increase market appeal and
awareness on search engines for hostel accommodation.
|
Implementation Process
|
Previous website
was embedded as a section in the school website www.nygh.moe.edu.sg , and followed the school’s website
template.
The Board
proposed a redesign and an independent url to create increased appeal that
matches the aesthetics of the boarding school and is also more easily
accessible on internet search engines.
Worked with ICT
and IRC departments to confirm the website content and new url registration.
Chose a look and
feel of an upmarket hotel website. Eg. Shangrila / Raffles Hotels.
The new website
allowed more boarding school facilities and specifications to be showcased.
New sections of
a more updated photo gallery format were added.
Testimonials of
boarders, guest and residents were also included as part of the design.
This new website
is also now used as the default log-in landing page for all boarding school
residents and guests. This helps to increase the traffic to the website.
This website can
still be extended for future marketing tools and purposes.
|
Extent of Improvement/
Targets met
|
The new Boarding
School website gives an improved public image as it is more representative of
the facilities and services it has to offer.
This has also
resulted in more prominence in internet search.
The website is
also in sync with newly designed flyers, giving a more holistic image.
This look and
feel is elegant and classic and can be used for a longer period of time
without further expenditure to renew design.
