Present Situation:

General Election 2020 was held on 10 July. Prior to that, there was no platform for students to have a deeper understanding of the General Election.

Improvement:

In line with Youth Day 2020 and as part of National Education, the school invited Ms Kuik Shiao-Yin, Co-Founder & Director of The Thought Collective, to speak with the students on Monday, 6 July 2020 about General Election 2020 via an e-Conference titled “General Election 2020 – Why It Should Matter to Me. The one-hour session aimed to provide a platform to connect the students with what is happening in Singapore, to raise their awareness and to get them thinking about what GE means for them as youths and citizens of Singapore, and to learn/hear from someone who served as a Nominated Member of Parliament (NMP). Approximately 120 students and 20 staff attended the e-Conference. Feedback from the students was positive and students described the experience as interesting, enlightening, eye-opening and meaningful. Other colleagues involved in this event: 1. Corliss Phua 2.
