Seat Allocators

Present Situation:
Due to the COVID-19 situation, there is a need to ensure that students practise safe-distancing in the canteen when they are queuing up to buy their food and when having their meals. Challenges presented due to the current situation: - The queues are long and there isn't much space to accommodate long queues especially with the requirement to stand 1m apart or double queues (for purchasing of different types of food/ for ordering and collection). - The number of tables and benches at the canteen is not able to accommodate the number of students during some recesses/breaks as only 4 students can sit at one table. - Insufficient spray bottles for soap solution. Staff and students use the soap solution when wiping down the tables after meals.

Improvement:
Here is the list of all the colleagues who have been working on this since March. 1. Annie Koh 2. Caren Hui 3. Mrs Chek 4. Lim Wan Cheng 5. Andrew Ong 6. Jeremy Low 7. Tan Kah Keow 8. Cheryl Tan 9. Wong Wan Ling Students involved in planning and execution: BOM PVPs (Loi Yi Xuan and Nicale Yee) NYSC PVPs (Chew Claire, Jayne Peh, Janice Goh) All BOMs Some of the ideas for improvement: 1. Marked crosses using tape on benches to indicate that only 2 persons can sit on one bench and to maintain a distance of 1m apart, and pasted tape on the floor in front of each canteen stall as reminder to maintain a safe distance. 2. Jeremy has been working closely with the cleaning vendor to procure more spray bottles. 3. Cheryl helped to label all the canteen tables with alphabets/numbers so that tables could be assigned to classes. Wan Cheng provided all the important information on recesses/lunch breaks. 4. Annie, Caren and Wan Ling formed a team of Secondary 4 Student Leaders (BOM & SC PVPs) to work out possible solutions to minimise crowding in the canteen and to communicate the plans to all staff and students. The PVPs helped in assigning tables to each class for all the recesses and lunch breaks, and also came up with different solutions: - Dividing each class into two teams (Team A and Team B) and the teams take turns to eat at the canteen during recess and lunch. - Actively encouraged students to use the Express Queue to minimise queues during recess/lunch. - Initiated a tracking system where students will indicate their whereabouts during recess/lunch breaks. - Eating in the classrooms in Term 2 and BOMs helped to remind students of the guidelines for eating in the classrooms. 5. Creation of more space to accommodate as many students as possible in Term 2 - Infrastructure Team helped to add more tables at level 1 outside General Office and Heritage Gallery areas. 6. Creation of more space to accommodate more students to queue and to have their meals in Term 3 - Rearranged the tables at the canteen so that there is more space for queues. - Mae, Sarah and the Art Unit offered the Art Gallery as additional space for students to have their meals. The Infrastructure Team helped to set up the area on Wednesday, 27 May and we have additional 52 tables/seats. 7. Adjustment of Timetable in the first four weeks of Term 3 by Wan Cheng so that students will have their recesses/lunch breaks by levels. This means that all students (by level) can have their meals at the canteen/Art Gallery space in the first four weeks of Term 3. 8. We will need to explore other solutions from Term 3 Week 5 onwards.
