Online HBL learning ideas_Shelter building

Present Situation:
The target audiences were from the secondary 3 advance outdoor education students. During the entire term, we went through with them the various modules on Outdoor Education in order to prepare them for their OBS journey. Since the beginning of Covid, we had moved our Outdoor Education lessons online. Therefore, we will have to think of interesting finale activities to consolidate their learning. One of the finale modules was for the students to apply their knowledge on their tents pitching skills they learnt before their HBL. In order to still have their practical session while they are on their HBL, we have designed an activity for them to still be able to practice their knots knowledge.

Improvement:
We designed an activity for them to execute their knowledge back at home. The students were supposed to build a shelter using whatever they can find at home and the existing structures they can found at home. The knots tying skill are uploaded as their references. The students were required to video their building process and to write a short piece of their reflections on their construction journey. It is a good opportunity for students to show their creativity through their construction process. This lesson not only tested their knowledge but also a good chance for them to exercise creativity (some even built the structure with their family members and thus a good family bonding session as well)
