Wall of Gratitude

Current Situation:
During the last Exco meeting, it heartened me to hear that there was limited response and nomination to Lead, Care and Inspire Award. This should be a platform that is meaningful to create the culture of staff camaraderie as well as affirmation of the positive qualities that our teachers have, that will inspire others into action. I realise what is missing is not the system as processes (Junita has done a good job in implementing the nomination process and there is a review process by the management). The missing piece is the lack of such culture that probably because our teachers are too busy, they might not see the need to do this nomination. To create such culture that will impact on the increase of trust and collaborative nature among staff, I think we should start from something small as everyone of us definitely have a small team to work together (within Dept, committee, CCA, trip etc), and we can start the culture by cultivating the expression of gratitude to people who journey with us.
Improvement:
The idea of "wall of gratitude" came up nicely in view of Teachers' Day Celebration. I find it impactful and meaningful to tap on this occasion, as usually we would get the notes of gratitude from our students. I am thinking the impact will be greater if we could also have the notes of gratitude and affirmation from colleagues. Furthermore, by putting it on the wall where everyone can read, we can celebrate and rejoice together in the stream of heartwarming messages posted by all of us. I believe the synergistic effect will be higher than just writing a personal note 1 to 1. I also think we could tap on the online platform Padlet to create the wall, as the staff are quite familiar with this platform and its affordances fit the requirement. The wall of gratitude was launched during Staff Conversation on Wed morning, 29 Aug, and now is collating responses so that all of us can celebrate together by reading it during Teachers' Day.
