Temporary Nametags

Image
Contributed by TAY CONG YU MARK, LUIS TIRTASANJAYA LIOE and TAN LIANG PING JAMES Current Situation: Students who do not bring a name tag have to look for their YH at/after morning assembly with a temporary tag. With current SMM measures, the YH may not be easily available (as compared to the past in the quadrangle) and students may not be able to locate the YH during recess as they may have lessons as well. Improvement: Decentralise the writing of temporary nametags from YH. As this is a discipline issue, the Discipline Committee and also be empowered to write on the name tags and ease the administrative process.

Zooming in class for students absent from school

Image
Contributed by LYE MEI CHU CHRISTINA Current Situation: Due to the present pandemic, students who are on (long term) medical leave / approved absence etc may be absent from school for up to 5 days or more and hence miss a lot of curriculum time. Improvement: A (form) class zoom meeting ID can be set up. The absent student can join this meeting and attend lessons for the whole day from wherever she is. This student will then not miss too many lessons. A device can be set up facing the white board. Students seated at the front centre can be taught to man the ipad Eg admitting the absent classmate into the meeting, safekeeping the device during breaks, returning the device to the FT at the end of the day. The FT can start the zoom meeting for the whole day and the absent student(s) can join the meeting and is able to see, hear and follow the lessons for the day. The device can also be brought to the various venues that the lesson is conducted at. Subject Teachers do not need to bring a de

Reduce duplicate reminders

Image
Contributed by MOLYYATI BINTE SHAHWAN Current Situation: Respective departments (eg: ICT/Library/GO) will email FTs to send reminders to students (and students to remind their parents) with regards to matters like completing a survey, outstanding library fines, or any admin matters. In the recent Student Particulars Verification exercise, the ICT dept emailed the list of students who have yet to complete the exercise to the FTs and requested for us to remind the students. FTs will then proceed to remind students(to remind their parents) via Whatsapp/email/verbally. As an FT, I sent a reminder to affected students via email. In the same week, a reminder was sent to parents via Parents Gateway by the ICT dept. In addition, there was another email sent over the weekend for FTs to remind the students and parents to complete the verification exercise before the extended deadline. I feel that there are too many duplicate reminders to the parents especially when the deadline is not over. Impr

Trolley with Removable & portable tool box

Image
Contributed by Andy ANG PECK HAI Current Situation: When preparing tool to be on site for work, the lightweight trolley still have some restricted when using it, especially need to put on more items and cause items easy slip out when moving. When doing repair work, because of placing area restricted and cannot put too many spare parts, sometime we need to go back workshop to take the spare parts and is very inconvenience and is also wasting time. Improvement: The ideally propose is to custom make a removable & portable tool box to hook onto the trolley , the tool box design is to create more cubicles, so that tools can be put in more and is very convenience if we need to use it as and when. The more advantage is the tools still can be remain in the cubicles after job complete and we don’t need to place it back to our infra store area and as and when we just bring along with trolley if any job request needed. The material use is recycle wood and is custom make.

Class Wifi name

Image
Contributed by LIOW YINXIA ELIZABETH Current Situation: Due to the change of classroom arrangement, the class wifi name may not correspond to the class occupying the classroom. So, IT personnel may have to spend time updating the class wifi name. Hence, presently, E.g. Class 409's wifi name is actually 412 (class 412 occupies the same classroom last year). Improvement: Name the class wifi to the room unit instead. E.g. Class 409 is occupying S3-05, so name the wifi as S3-05 instead. Hence, IT personnel need not spend time to update the wifi name when the classroom arrangement changes every year.
